2008 Twinning visit to Artannes |
The 2008 visit to Artannes has now been firmly fixed. The party will depart Bathford on Thursday 8 May and return Monday 12 May - a stay of 4 nights. As usual, the accommodation and hospitality will be provided by the residents of Artannes, who will also arrange a programme of interest for the visit. Anyone who has ever visited before will know that the welcome will be most warm & generous. I would emphasise that this visit is open to everyone in Bathford & Kingsdown. We would like to hear from interested participants as soon as possible. If there is enough interest, we may be able to arrange a small coach party (say 20-24) which would provide a virtual door-todoor service at a good price. If you would like to use such an arrangement, please make contact right away so that we can get the exercise costed. Please get in touch with Peter Rideal on 858322 to take part. |

Friends of Bathford school -Update. |
Since September there have been various fundraising activities that have been run, in order to help the School towards it's £17,000 target for the completion of the new classrooms. The money that has been raised, along with unspent money from last year in the FOBS account, means that we can now allocate £12,500 towards the building project. A further £1000 approx has also been raised by FOBS in conjunction with Bathford School Charitable Trust with the 'Adopt a brick' initiative which will also go towards the building fund. There are more fundraising activities planned for 2008. We have a Brand new Dyson Vaccuum cleaner worth over £250 to be won . It will be raffled on the 4th April at 3.15pm in the School . Tickets are £1 each and available from the village Shop. Thank you for all your support The FOBS team. |

Neighbourhood Speed Watch |
Neighbourhood Speed Watch - the police have invited Bathford to participate n the Neighbourhood Speed Watch programme. Under this initiative, civilian volunteers could stand at the side of the road and monitor the speed of vehicles passing through the village. Any drivers found breaking the speed limit would receive a warning about their speed. The equipment would be provided by the parish council and full training would be given. If you would be willing to volunteer to use a speed camera as part of this scheme then please contact the Clerk on 859007; or email;

If there is sufficient interest then the parish council will look further into joining this scheme. |
